David A. Gortner

Software Development Director

David is responsible for Zeacom’s product development strategy and leads the Auckland-based R&D team. Joining Zeacom in 2011, David has over 20 years experience in managing software development for leading brands.

David worked at Navman in Auckland for five years as Systems Engineering Manager and Senior Project Manager. Prior to that David was at Microsoft Corporation’s head office in Redmond for over ten years, in a variety of product development and commercialisation roles in the Mobile Devices Division, Windows Division and MSN business units.

While at Navman New Zealand he championed increased training to develop a more cohesive, informed and effective senior management team. He’s famously focused on improving systems – as Operator Program Manager, Mobile Devices Division, for Microsoft in the USA, he created an operator training kit so operators could develop a better technical understanding of the products more quickly.

David has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington. His interests outside work include home audio, riding his Norton Commando 850 and photography.
